Dispatch Student of the Week: Olentangy Liberty's Natalie Gray wins close race -The Columbus Dispatch

Feb. 2, 2024 – Olentangy Liberty High School's Natalie Gray won over a talented and crowded field for The Dispatch's inaugural Student of the Week poll. Gray secured 1,984 votes, or 26.9%, of the 7,382 votes cast this week to edge Lara Teri of New Albany High School, who secured 1,972 votes, or 26.7%.

Olentangy's Gray leads nearly $200,000 effort to raise money to fight cancer -The Columbus Dispatch

Jan. 19, 2024 – Natalie Gray was just 13 when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Gray, of Powell, endured two emergency surgeries in five days. Now 16, and a sophomore at Olentangy Liberty High School, she still goes through chemotherapy sessions for her inoperable tumors.

Rival Schools Show Unity - Delaware Gazette

Jan. 17, 2023 – Two rival high schools came together to raise more than $11,000 for pediatric brain tumor research and to support a fellow student fighting the disease. Olentangy Liberty High School hosted “The Challenge” on Friday, Jan. 13, when its varsity girls and boys basketball teams played their cross-town rivals, Olentangy Orange High School. The Challenge is an annual game the Liberty teams select as a fundraiser and, for the second year in a row, the teams choose The Natalie Gray Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors. Read more here.

Natalie Gray Foundation raises thousands with charity golf outing - The Athens Post

Oct. 30, 2022 – Earlier this month, on Oct. 18, the Natalie Gray Foundation held their 2nd Annual Golf Outing at Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club in Powell, Ohio, to raise money for children and families affected by brain tumors. In 2021, at only 14 years old, Natalie Gray was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, leading to multiple brain surgeries. Luckily, Gray was able to return home, but her journey to recovery was just beginning. More information on the commitment can be found here.

Oct. 6, 2022 – Olentangy Liberty High School freshman Natalie Gray is determined to use the reality of her medical condition to serve as a beacon of hope for all children whose lives will be threatened by pediatric brain tumors in the future. On Sept. 20, Gray and her family were at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Columbus to announce a five-year, $250,000 commitment to the Collaborative Network for Neuro-oncology Clinical Trials (CONNECT) consortium through her namesake Natalie Gray Foundation. Sept. 20, 2022 – Liberty High School recognized Natalie Gray at Friday evening‘s homecoming football game for her foundation’s commitment to the CONNECT Consortium and pediatric cancer research. More information on the commitment can be found here.

The Natalie Gray Foundation Commits $250,000 to Pediatric Brain Tumor Research - NBC 4, Columbus

Sept. 20, 2022 – A central Ohio high school student is making a major donation to fight pediatric cancer, based on her own experience with it. Natalie Gray, a freshman at Olentangy Liberty High School, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in July 2021. It was a condition she said only 50% of children survive. After two surgeries and chemotherapy treatment, however, the tumor is still there but manageable. Click here to read more.

Olentangy Liberty-Upper Arlington girls basketball fundraiser to benefit Natalie Gray Foundation - Columbus Dispatch

January 18, 2022 - The Olentangy Liberty girls basketball team will hold a fundraiser for the Natalie Gray Foundation at its home game Jan. 28 against Upper Arlington. Gray, an eighth-grader at Liberty Middle School and a dancer at Dublin Dance Center & Gymnastics, was diagnosed with a brain tumor July 16, 2021, according to the foundation’s website. The fundraiser includes a one-hour autograph session, beginning at 5 p.m., with Ohio State football players Steele Chambers, Zach Harrison, TreVeyon Henderson, Ronnie Hickman, Teradja Mitchell and Miyan Williams, according to organizers. Buckeyes show support for 14-year-old with brain cancer at autograph event - NBC4 Columbus

January 18, 2022 - A group of Ohio State football players being paid to sign autographs isn’t an unusual sight anymore. “We do autograph signings all the time, but this one is special,” said freshman running back Treveyon Henderson while autographing a football for a young fan at Olentangy Liberty high school. On a Friday night in late January, this group of Buckeyes lined up at a long table are earning money; but, every signature is a sign of support. Click here to read more.
